Following a profile of the new Secretary to the Society, the Revd Dr Martin Ritchie, the topics covered are the Study Day of 2018, the Annual Meeting of 2019 including the names of those elected to the Council, a tribute to the Revd James Stewart on retiring as editor of the Record, a note of members who have died, the proposal to remove the role of Vice President from the Constitution, and conversations about greater co-operation with the Scottish Church Society.

Martin Ritchie is Secretary of the Church Service Society and is minister at Edinburgh: Greenbank Parish Church, serving as a probationer minister with Jennifer MacRae at Haddington St Mary’s from October 2016 to March 2018. His PhD, which he carried out at New College, University of Edinburgh, explored the experience of worship in the early Reformed Church of Scotland, 1559-1617.

Douglas Galbraith served as the Secretary of the Church Service Society from 2010-2019 and after a varied career in church-related pastoral, teaching and administrative work in Scotland and Australia continues in retirement in research and writing in the area of church music and has become involved in the pilgrim routes movement in Scotland.
